Apart from a few gems like Lady Gaga, Colbie Caillat and Sara Bareilles, there are few female vocalists and singer/songwriters that are able to inspire people with their music and be successful. This artist has the ability to follow these songstresses and be very popular in the near future. Potter has been compared to Bareilles, LeAnn Rimes and Jane Monheit, but brings her own special flair into the mix on this debut album. Independently released and produced, Potter used her Berklee College of Music training well and compiled an album of tracks that bridge many genres. She is able to mix jazz with pop, rock, R&B and country without the compilation sounding like a muddled mess. In fact, the end result is graceful. It seems as though Potter doesn't need the confines of a specific genre; she is clearly at home in all. Each song on this album has the ability to be a hit. From the infectious chorus of 'Love,' to the lyrical tongue-in-cheek wordplay of 'Too Much' to the incredibly moving 'Didn't I Love You Enough?,' Potter captures the listeners and leaves them wanting more. This young woman highlights the emotions of joy and sadness, love and tragedy. This album will soon be on repeat, whether in your car, on your computer, or through your headphones. Every song on this album was written from the heart, from a place of honest truth. Lizz Potter will be your next favorite sweet fix.
