"Attila" is a strategy game comprising part of the multi award winning "Total War" series of computer games. This edition is set against the familiar backdrop of starvation, disease and war.

Set in 395 AD, a time of great turmoil, beginning with the later stages of the Roman empire through to the early dark ages. Players must defend Rome from the approaching army and warrior king through grand battles, political manoeuvring, campaign creation and constant migration across Europe. Those with an interest in history or fancy themselves as an army chair general will relish the challenge of "Attila" by guiding the title character to become leader of the Huns through a deep and varied campaign. Provinces must be conquered in order to command regions with Attila leading the way.

Appropriately named, this title is brutal and complex. The challenge posed from a game acknowledged to be difficult will be equally as rewarding upon success ("gameinformer", 17/02/2015), therefore a PEGI rating of 16 is appropriate.

Veterans will appreciate the efforts to make navigation easier within this nine series strong franchise, however since this is a complicated game it will take a fair investment of time to learn and get to grips with each facet of gameplay ("hooked gamers", 17/02/2015). Committed Total War fans will appreciate the tweaks in gameplay which make it feel fresh, including extending the playable map into modern day Russia and the new historical era being tackled ("gameover.gr", 26/06/2015). Different perspectives and play styles give a reason to play more than once. Downloadable content is readily available to prolong and expand the game by adding factions, units and exciting standalone campaigns for when shorter play is desired. DLC's include "Viking Forefathers" and "Lay Of Ybor", but more are expected to be announced.

Designed to be played on PC and Mac computers, this DVD-ROM requires some minimum specifications to run properly. Hardware expectations are quite high, requiring graphics memory of at least 2,048 MB whilst RAM requirements are 3,072 MB plus. On the plus side, these specs result in a visually stunning title with acute attention to detail and an expansive playing field.
