Product Description

For less than a tenner, 10 hours of story play is not bad, as you get involved in the action adventure Lego The Hobbit. It's available on the PS Vita, PS3, PS4, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The game from the developer Traveller's Tales supports up to 2 players from 6 years old and has a lot up its sleeve, especially for Lord of the Rings fans.

LEGO The Hobbit: A Fun Tale

Compared to the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga which costs four times the price, explorers and adventurers will get their money's worth on the trip to Middle-earth because of the picturesque surroundings and fancy lighting. In addition, the humorous, very well translated cutscenes and the game play are also worth seeing. But there are also some wishes left open, especially concerning the raw material system, which is not supposed to look well thought-out, after all raw materials are needed to build important buildings. In addition, the choice of 98 characters over 16 levels can be overwhelming for some players, because they are constantly changing and have unique abilities. An online co-op mode and a somewhat louder voice output would further increase the fun of the game.

Verdict

All in all, Lego The Hobbit is a finely staged game with entertaining action adventures, a chic film set and nice lighting effects. Paired with the original voice output and lots of humour as well as funny dialogues you get a little bit of cinema feeling in your living room. Single elements like the dull building stations or undemanding brainteasers as well as enormously numerous characters could minimise the fun a bit.
