The first stage of the project covers hundreds of meters but will extend to several kilometres by its final stages, generating a number of Mega Watts of electrical energy, which will not be just in favour of Electricity of Lebanon (EDL), but will serve the areas around and for sure the Bourj Hammoud area." VARIOUS OF LIGHT POLES (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) VICE PRESIDENT OF BOURJ HAMMOUD MUNICIPALITY, GEORGE KRIKORIAN, SAYING: "The second project by the Ministry of Energy involves installing solar-powered lights on Dora-Karantina road. This has many positives, especially in the situation of interruption of electricity, rationing and the pressure on electricity generation in Lebanon. It eases this pressure, it provides continuous lighting on the highway and along sensitive parts of it. In addition to these two projects, there are two more projects within Bourj Hammoud and the municipality is monitoring them along with local associations." Particularly in a country like Lebanon with problems in energy production, renewable energy presents itself as a solution that compensates for gaps in electricity production."
