Description:
A heavy antlered dominant mule deer buck in rut follows a doe. This is part of courtship behavior during the rut. The buck will sniff the doe's urine or her genital region and determine if she is coming into estrous and will be receptive to breeding. If she is, he will stay
with her, unless he finds a "hotter" doe, or unless another dominant buck comes along and tries to steal her. If neither buck backs down a fight may ensue. This happened later in the morning whenthis buck was involved in a dominance fight with a younger buck. See Clips 48782736, 48783166, 48782148 and 48783316.
